Eco-Conscious Hotel with a Fabulous View and Stellar Service
I recently held a yoga retreat at Lomas de Tzununá. While I had been to the lake many times, this was my first visit to the hotel/retreat center. The photos don't do it justice. The views are spectacular from every room and the yoga shala (which is also fully stocked with mats and props). They've managed to provide modern amenities in an eco-friendly, simple sort of way. Every single one of the staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. They were able to meet all of the dietary needs of the group including vegetarians, dairy-free, and gluten-free. The owners were very hands-on from the preparation stage all the way through to the actual retreat. Thierry actually sang and played music with us and shared his firsthand experience working on the Peace Accords near the end of the civil war. I could go on and on, but I'll just say that I'm really looking forward to hosting future groups here!

Immaculate and sublime
"Each year, I lead a group of 12 college students on a hiking trip in Guatemala, and each year, our time with Thierry and Maria at Lomas de Tzununá is the highlight of the trip. The hotel is immaculate and well designed for nature lovers, and Thierry and Maria's hospitality is incomparable. Do yourself a favor and stay here for at least one night (we stay for three nights every year, and even that seems too short), and be sure to ask Thierry and Maria about their community development work in Tzununá."

Highly recommend this
"This stay was by far the best ever for my family. I'm so thankful for the energy of the place, the level of care of every single detail and Maria and Thierry's ability to make us feel so much like every thing would be taken care of. Thierry spoke Spanish with us every chance he got, answered so many of our questions and made excellent recommendations to visit the neighboring town of San Juan La Laguna. They were all spot on. The food from the restaurant was delicious, fresh, and prepared to everyone's liking at every single meal. While it is a remote location (not for every type of family), I loved how kid friendly the staff was. I had my 4yo and my 5mo daughters and they both had an absolute blast. We hit the pool, the huge chess board, me and my husband got to sneak in a massage while the rest of my extended family all had a great time as well. Will definitely be coming back, either by myself or with my entire family again. We'll probably make it a yearly trip. Thanks again for an excellent stay."

Incredible views of the lake!
"Maria and Thierry have created a tranquil and drop-dead gorgeous place to relax on Lake Atitlan. We enjoyed the challenge of climbing the stairs to and from the lake, admiring the craftsmanship that went into the construction feat. (There are handrails throughout, so the stairs are very safe.) Taking the public "lanchas" from the Lomas dock to get to other areas of the lake works well (until 5pm) and is an interesting cultural experience. We enjoyed everything on the menu for dinner and the "continental" breakfast (included with the room) was more than ample with eggs, toast, coffee and a smoothie. We hope to return!"
